This experience is designed to give you a genuine taste of what it is like to live, study and navigate life in Spain independently.

With that independence comes responsibility. We expect every student to demonstrate maturity, respect, responsibility and good judgment throughout the trip. You will have opportunities to explore, spend time with friends and experience Spain beyond the scheduled programme, and we want you to enjoy that freedom.

At the same time, you are part of a group, and your actions can affect everyone around you. You are also representing yourself, your family and the people who have trusted us to look after you during this experience.

Our expectation is simple: we will treat you with the trust and independence expected of a young adult, and in return, we expect you to behave like one.

As this is an under-18 programme, we have a zero-tolerance policy regarding alcohol and drugs.

• The possession, purchase or consumption of alcohol is strictly prohibited throughout the programme.
• The possession, purchase or use of illegal drugs is strictly prohibited.
• Students must not attend any activity or return to the accommodation under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
• Students must not purchase, accept or consume alcohol or illegal substances from or with any other person during the programme.
• Any breach of this policy will be treated as serious misconduct.

The safety and wellbeing of every student is our highest priority. Any behaviour that puts another student, staff member or member of the public at risk will be treated extremely seriously. This includes:

• Physical violence or fighting.
• Threatening or intimidating behaviour.
• Abusive or aggressive behaviour towards another person.
• Harassment or serious bullying.
• Deliberately putting yourself or others in danger.
• Any other behaviour that we reasonably consider to pose a serious risk to the safety or wellbeing of others.

In cases involving drugs, alcohol, violence, abuse, threatening behaviour, or behaviour that creates a serious danger to others, we reserve the right to remove the student from the programme immediately.

If this occurs, we will arrange for the student to return home on the next reasonably available flight.

Any costs associated with the student's return home, including the cost of the replacement flight and any necessary travel arrangements, will be the responsibility of the student's parent or guardian.

We may also contact the student's parent or guardian immediately in such circumstances.

Students are expected to:

• Attend all scheduled activities unless given permission not to.
• Arrive at meeting points on time.
• Respect departure and return times.
• Inform us if they are going to be late or are experiencing a problem.
• Understand that repeated lateness or failure to follow the schedule may result in restrictions on independent or free time.
• Being on time is particularly important when the group is travelling between locations, visiting universities or attending scheduled activities, as one person's lateness can affect the entire group.

Students will have designated periods of free time and will be given an appropriate level of independence. During these periods, students are expected to:

• Remain within the agreed area.
• Return to the designated meeting point at the agreed time.
• Keep their phone charged and remain reachable.
• Stay with their designated group where instructed.
• Let us know if their plans change or if they encounter a problem.
• Being given free time is a privilege based on trust. If that trust is repeatedly broken, we may restrict a student's independent time for the remainder of the programme.

Students are expected to respect their accommodation and other guests. This includes:

• Keeping noise to a reasonable level.
• Respecting other students' rooms and personal space.
• Following the accommodation's rules.
• Not entering another student's room without permission.
• Not hosting parties or engaging in disruptive behaviour.
• Taking responsibility for any damage caused through inappropriate or negligent behaviour.
• Any costs resulting from damage caused by a student may be charged to the student or their parent/guardian.

Throughout the trip, students are expected to treat the following people with courtesy and respect:

• Other students
• The accompanying team
• University representatives
• Hotel and restaurant staff
• Tour guides
• Members of the public

Students are representing themselves and their families, but they are also representing the wider community that has made this experience possible. We expect students to conduct themselves accordingly, particularly during university visits and professional activities.

Students must keep their phones charged and accessible throughout the programme. They should:

• Have the accompanying team's contact information saved.
• Respond promptly to messages from us.
• Keep their phone on silent during university visits, presentations and professional activities.
• Inform us immediately if they become lost, feel unsafe or experience an emergency.

Your health and wellbeing are extremely important to us. If you feel unwell, are injured, are struggling with something, or simply don't feel comfortable with a situation, please tell us.

You will never be expected to deal with something on your own. Whether it is something physical, something that is worrying you, a problem with another student, or anything else that is affecting your experience, we want you to feel comfortable coming to us.

If something is bothering you, tell us early. We will always do our best to help, find a solution and make sure you are okay.

Please also let us know as soon as possible if you have any medication, allergies, dietary requirements or other health-related considerations that we need to be aware of during the trip.

We want students to enjoy documenting the experience, but they should be respectful of others when doing so. Students should:

• Ask before posting photos or videos that prominently feature another student.
• Respect anyone who does not wish to be filmed or photographed.
• Never post content that is humiliating, threatening, inappropriate or invasive of another person's privacy.
• Remember that anything posted online can remain publicly accessible.

Students are responsible for their own:

• Passport and identification.
• Phone and electronic devices.
• Money and valuables.
• Luggage and personal belongings.
• Personal spending.
• Students should also take responsibility for understanding the daily schedule and knowing where and when they are expected to be.

We want this to be an experience that students genuinely remember — not simply as a trip to Spain, but as an opportunity to experience a new country, meet new people, visit universities and develop the independence expected of a young adult.

We trust our students to make good decisions. In return, we expect them to respect the trust that has placed in them.

The overwhelming majority of the experience should be about exploring, learning, having fun and becoming more independent.

These expectations exist to make sure that everyone can do exactly that in a safe, respectful and enjoyable environment.
